I have them mounted on my siding in my patio, about 9 ft high and 14 ft apart on either side of a bay window/door leading to steps that take you down to the patio. I have paired them to a Niles WVC100e volume controller that is connected to my Denon 3808CI as a Zone2 connection. I would have preferred them to be closer to each other for true Stereo sound but I have a 350 sq ft patio that needed coverage so they work well as they are placed today. The sound and build quality are excellent -- especially for the money. The only reason I give them a 4 on sound is because you will definitely need a sub to fill in the bass. Maybe they were designed with that thought already in mind, and I do have a sub, but it's just my 2 cents. If you have a sub, or plan to buy one, these speakers are a great choice. BTW, the 400's are worth the extra $200 if you can afford it -- they have a fuller sound.
