You can either buy tower speakers, or bookshelf speakers. I needed something that would fit in a space no wider than 8 inches. I bought these and they sound wonderful. The mid ranges are very present and not drowned out by a lot of over done base. I guess if you want a thump box, then either get a sub woofer or look elsewhere. Once I got the speakers out of the box, the feet attach easily, but they also make the speaker width not 7.75 inches, but add 1.5 inches to each side of the base. You must connect the feet so the speaker will set level on the ground because of the front face plate is lower than the speaker enclosure. To solve my problem I made my own feet out of ... Polk Audio
